First Steps

This weekend, we had a breakthrough of sorts. I have been getting all disgrunteled (on the inside) about my 12.5 month old daughter not walking yet. This is something that until this weekend had not even been interesting her. She would rather crawl to get what she wants because, lets be honest, it is faster for her! So, this weekend she started becoming more and more brave. She has now come to a point where she is letting go and venturing out into the middle of the living room. Yeah! This new adventure is a joy to watch and as a parent, it is yet another one of those things that makes you both cry and smile at the same time. Now, moving on the the next thing that parents stress about.....

A Fun Sunday in the Sun

Most weekends I have a to do list a mile long. This weekend, I had some things in mind that I wanted to get done, but nothing pressing. So, as I wrote out my trusty "to do" list this morning, I added something different than usual. Amongst the laundry, grocery, and bank, I wrote "Have Fun!" So that is what we did. Kevin blew up the two ring kiddie pool. We set that up in the yard along with Aubrey's sand table and just hung out. Since all of our neighbors are friends and family, we had a few visitors too. Grandpa, Ryley, Devin and Cameron came, as well as, Kyla, Rhiannon and their Mom, Shirley. It was a few hours of fun in the sun. We kept cool with the 6 inches of water that the pool provided and the shade trees in our yard. Aubrey enjoyed splashing around in the pool and then moving over to the sand table to chow down on some sand! The best part was the ice cream pop that Granpa helped Aubrey eat. There is not a better way to spend a Sunday!

Lesson Learned

Heather, Landon and Laura Beth were my subjects for the day Saturday. We had big plans to go to Heritage Park and take some practice pictures. Who knew it was going to be the hottest day of the year? We decided it would be best to just take Laura Beth, since it was so hot outside (this is like 5:15 pm). Heather, Laura Beth and I piled in the car, went to the park, got all set up and after like 5 minutes of being outside, we were all drenched with sweat. Laura Beth's smile quickly faded and we decided that 96 degree weather probably wasn't the best time to be snapping pics of a 15 month old. So, we got in the car and came back to my house and into the wonderful A/C. I didn't realize till we got home that I acutally got some pretty cute shots in that short period of time we were out there. I have included a few from the hottest day in McDonough...EVER!

First Real Shoot - Little Braxton

Today I had the pleasure of doing my first "real" photo shoot with a 16 day old little baby boy named Braxton. He was awake the entire time I was there and was an angel as I positioned and repositioned to try and get the best shot. I hope I did him justice as he is my little photography guinea pig, my project. Lucky him! We did have to take a break for feeding, but once that little belly was full, he was good to go! Thank you so much to Christal and Doug, who are letting me borrow their newborn for my possible photography success! Let me know what you guys think!

The Inevitable

Wow...How time does fly! My baby girl will be ONE tomorrow and I don't know where the time has gone. I am thinking back on that Monday morning (May 14, 2007) and I can remember that day like it was yesterday. On that day I became a Mother. It has been the most challenging and rewarding job I have ever taken on. Aubrey has been a blessing and I cherish everyday that we are able to spend with her. Happy Birthday Aubrey Kay!

Other things that have happened...Devin got a car (1997 Sunfire)...I start 102 Photo class on Thursday, May 1....We visited Grandmother and got to hang out with the Cousins!

Spring Break 2008

We are back from the beach and glad to be home, but sorry the vacation is over. We are all completely wiped out. I have so much laundry and unpacking to do, but I have decided to leave it all until tomorrow. The worst part is going back to work on Monday!!!

The family beach vacation was a blast! We had so much fun hanging out with old friends and meeting new ones (Christina and Claire)! Aubrey did great in her travels and she absolutely LOVED the beach. She particularly likes to eat sand, in which, I am not surprised! While we were gone, Aubrey decided she was going to get her top 4 teeth. They all pretty much came in at once. She has been pretty good considering. We brought my sister Devin along, which was the most wonderful thing we could have done. Otherwise, we realized that we would have been eating early bird specials all week since our girls go to bed by 7:30 every night! The boys got in some golf and we girls got to do some shopping. We had one wild night that included a dueling piano bar called Crocodile Rocks. We took it back to the old school and partied like the college days! Now it's back to the old grind....

Play/Dinner Date

I did not have a chance to post this before we left for the trip, but we had such a fun time I just had to write about it and post pics! Kevin, Aubrey and I went to the Woods' (Heather, Landon and Laura Beth) for a dinner/playdate. Heather and I realized that we both don't do much on the weekends these days, so we figured, why not do nothing together! The girls had fun playing and we were even able to throw them in the tub together. Aubrey loves the water and Laura Beth was facinated by the fact that there was another baby in her tub! It was too cute! Then they were able to go to bed and we were able to have dinner. Landon whipped up a wonderful dinner and a delicious desert. He made a banana cream cheesecake. It was freaking delicious. I am salvating just thinking about it! I hope we are able to do it again.

Fun Bows!

Here are some bows I whipped out in all of my spare time this week. I think that sometimes just sitting there concentrating on something, like bowmaking, and having a finished product is a form of meditation. I know it is for me! Things like that help to take me out of my real world for a minute and really help to clear my head. Anyway, not to get all deep, but I thought these turned out really cute! The two are for an outfit Mandy asked me to match and the seperate one is just one I made while playing around.

We're Outta Here!

I never thought I would be so happy for Spring Break to get here! This year we are taking a family vacation to North Myrtle Beach, SC with some friends of ours and their little ones. (Rhodes, Tina and Claire Seeger and Jason, Julie and Christina Adkins) I have been looking forward to this for about 2 months now and I am sooooo happy it is finally here. We are leaving on Sunday and returning on Saturday April 12. We will be heading home that morning in hopes of returning before Macey's 2nd Birthday party at 3. Lucky for us, Devin is going with to help with the girls. And by "girls", I mean a 10, 9, and 6 month old. This should be interesting...I will be sure to give an update when we return!
