Maternity Leave

I am getting so excited about the arrival of Baby Addison! She will make her debut in only 17 days. We have been very busy getting her room ready, including washing mounds of laundry. With the second, same sex, you have everything and that makes the laundry preparation feel like it will never end. It is so much fun getting all of Aubrey's old things out and remembering back to when she was that small. It went by so fast because now she is a Big Girl and a Big Sis! I am adding a picture of myself here at 35.5 weeks. I am feeling pretty good, but starting to hit that sluggish tired feeling you get at the end.

For all of my photography clients, please note that I will not be taking any more orders after Monday, June 22. This will barely give us enough time to order and get the pictures to you before I am in the newborn baby haze. So...go ahead and get those orders in!! :)

I will begin taking orders again about 3 weeks after that. I have activated the 'shopping cart' on Smugmug, so you can always order that way. But, remember, my packages are not included on there...that is only for a la carte. My last day of my real job is Wed, June 24 and I will be off until September 21.

Laura Beth ~ 2 years

Laura Beth turned two in March, but we were waiting on the perfect weather to take her two year portraits. On Saturday, we got the most perfect 70 degree spring day. We did the shoot at my in-law's house at about 5 pm. Laura Beth's session was a hit with so many great images to choose from...even though she did not have but 30 minutes of sleep all day! Just so her Mommy does not go crazy, I am going to post at least one. I promise I will work on them for the rest of the week and continue posting as I go!

Only 3 more sessions left...

Update! I am only booking 3 more sessions this Spring! I am officially cutting my own self off from booking sessions. For those of you who know me, you know I tend to overextend my obligations. With the baby due on June 26th and the big moving coming up this month, I know that I really need to scale back.
So, if you are interested, please contact me to book a date in March, April, or first few weeks of May!
Here I have also posted more of my mini session with my 6 week old niece, Makenzi Leigh!

What's been going on?

Things have been crazy as usual around here! We are still in the basement at the in-law's house, but it is going well overall. We have become one big happy family with joint family dinners and bathtime with all three girls.

We had a busy time last weekend! Kevin was out of town, and I had Aubrey all by myself for a few days. We had fun on Saturday at Sarah Claire's second Birthday party. She had an Elmo theme, which Aubrey LOVED! I wish I had taken more photos, but with a 1.5 year old and 18 weeks pregnant, it is so hard to do anything but keep up. Saturday night, Aubrey went to Grandpa's and spent the night. I had a girls night out with Mandy, Amanda, Robyn and Laryl. We went to the movies and saw "He's Just Not That Into You", ate at Yuki Japanese restaurant and then went to The Wishing Well to see a band play. I stayed out way too late and hung with the girls, but we had a great time! And, the best part was being able to sleep till 9:30 on Sunday!
In other news, I am working very diligently to get the official Erin Kay Photography website (http://www.erinkayphoto.com/) up and running. I have just had to fit it in when I can. I hope to have some sessions scheduled in the upcoming months with the warmer weather. I am working on my pricing now and I think I will change some things...for the better!!

Our house is coming right along and should be ready around mid March....so they say! I think that we will be so happy with the end result. Things are really coming together now and I am itching to move in!! I have been working hard to get things decorated (paint, fixtures, etc) and even picked out Addison's bedding. You can check it out at http://www.javisdavis.com/designstudio/studio.php?collection=194&g=2&bump_out=0692&bump_in=0363&bump_welt=0693&bump_tie=0693&sheet=0386&skirt=0694&trim=0693 . I am painting her room a very pale turquoise color. Aubrey's room will be a very light lime green and the bedding will be brown, lime green, pink and yellow. It is so fun to have two girls! I am still working on our room. Isn't that always how it is? You do for the kiddos first!
That is about it around here. I am going to try and be better about blogging, but time just seems to pass us by.

Just playing around with some old photos...

I started playing with some new photoshop techniques tonight. Here are some of my sister's Senior pics that I took this summer. These are from my first shoot EVER. Cameron (her boyfriend), Devin and I went to Heritage Park to begin my photography career last June! It is exciting to see the progress I have made with my photoshopping.
Don't forget to stay tuned for some exciting website information in the upcoming weeks!

Peace

I thought this was a cutie pic of my neice to share. I have taken a break from photography and photoshopping these past few weeks. It was a much needed "vacation", but I am ready to get up and running for 2009. The peace and quiet is over!

Love the lense

I finally got a new lens that I have been salivating over for a few months now...the Canon 50mm 1.4. It is awesome for indoor shooting and low light situations. This photo of Aubrey was taken in our basement apartment with out flash and practically no light coming in the windows....and it is SOOC (straight out of the camera). I can't wait to start using this lens on my upcoming shoots. Speaking of upcoming shoots, if anyone is interested, I am booking now for 09!

I also have a fun surprise rolling out *fingers crossed* by the end of the month. That is my goal anyway....stay tuned for details!

Bell Family

The weather in Georgia is surprisingly cold this November. We are used to the temperature being around 70 degrees or so during Thanksgiving, but this year we are experiencing some pretty chilly days! Today was no exception...The Bell Family and I met at Heritage Park in McDonough. Lucky for us, the sun was shining pretty bright by 11 am, so that helped cut the chill of the 34 degree weather! The Bell Family did a fabulous job posing and smiling for the camera. I am used to shooting young children who like to run away from me, so it was kind of nice to have a family actually stay where you need them to for a change! Thank you so much for having me shoot your family photos. I hope you enjoy them!

Knox Family

Isn't it ironic that on the coldest week of the year I have the most shoots scheduled so far! Well, today was no exception as it was another cold one, with a high of only 54 degrees. The Knox's session was at 4 pm, when the sun is just starting to set. Beautiful lighting, I must say! We stayed outside shooting for less than one hour, but that is all we really needed because Hunter and Anna were so easy to work with. Both kids just loved posing for the camera....and I loved every minute! We really could have gotten a ton more shots, but it really was getting cold. I can't wait to come back in the summer when everything is in full bloom. The property they live on is a photographers dream in any season. Thank you so much Knox family!

Elizabeth and Kenzie ~ Clinton Farms

These two beauties were so much fun to hang out with this morning! I took a trip to Villa Rica to visit Elizabeth (22 months) and Kenzie (11 months) at Clinton Farms Nature Preserve. Their Mommy's are best friends and you can tell that the girls hang out with each other often. I could not get enough of both of their beautiful blue eyes. Both girls had very different personalities though. Elizabeth is into exploration and just loves the playground, while Kenzie is a very laid back, hang out kind of gal. Although, that will probably change as soon as she gets her "walk" down! I have to say that I go so many great shots that I decided to post more than usual. Thank you so much for scheduling the shoot and I hope to photograph your families for a long time to come!

Holzman Family ~ High Falls, GA

This evening I had the pleasure of photographing the Holzman family, again. You will recognize them from a few weeks back when we took photos of the family, plus the family dogs. Today we took a trip about 25 miles southbound to a beautiful place called High Falls. The boys (John Walter and Raleigh) had a blast exploring all of the things that the falls had to offer. We got down really close to the water for the shoot. The trees were just beautiful, as it is the perfect time to capture the changing colors. Mom (Emily) wanted to get family shots and I think that we did a great job of that this evening. Thank you again, Holzman family, for having me photograph your family!

Burnham Family

Today I traveled to Newnan, GA to do a photoshoot for a wonderful family! The Burnham's, Alexa, Bruce, and Preston were just a joy to work with. Alexa and I have known each other for about six years now. We met at my first job out of college and have been friends ever since. We were lucky enough to get pregnant at the EXACT same time. Our due dates were one day apart and we had our babies one day apart, as well. Crazy! Preston is now 17 months old and just loves to run and play outside. He is all boy! Thank you Burnhams for letting me take your photos.
